Solar Bus Stops

Ok seriously where can DC sign up?  San Francisco just unveiled their new solar bus stops, the first of 1,100 that will be installed throughout the city.  The sun rays will help power their intercom, LED lighting, and even wireless routers for the city's WiFi.  Again where can DC sign up?  Read more about this amazing step forward for green public transportation over at InHabitat.

This is pretty amazing.  Tokyo's metro station is using their riders to create energy for ticket gates and display systems.  This new piezoelectric energy generating floor has a wide range of applications and I can't help but start fantasizing about the possibilities.  If you think about it any area with heavy foot traffic could help generate energy.  The possibilities really are endless.
