J. Crew's Fall Catalog

This morning I got the newest fall catalog for J.Crew. Swoon. But let me sidetrack real quick. Yes thats right, J.Crew delivered their catalog to my work address. As if it wasn't hard enough to be sly with my personal packages and keep my shopping addiction under wraps. A few of my coworkers have already started to catch on nicknaming me confessions of a shopaholic. Now they have sent me catalogs to sit in my mailbox for all to see. Thanks a lot, J.Crew.

Back on subject though, J.Crew's fall line is probably going to put a huge dent in my paycheck. I only quickly glanced through it because again I'm trying to be sly about my "problem" at work. I'm looking forward to fully indulging by circling and dog earring the pages when I get home. But one thing that caught my eye that I had to share was their A to Z theme. I absolutely love the way they've incorporated their clothing, the models, and each letter. I scanned in a few of my favorites below. So classy. Well done, J.Crew, well done. I guess I can forgive you for outing me as a shopaholic.

Eric Hutchinson - OK It's Alright With Me

I know I'm a typography nerd when I fall in love with a music video because of the use of text.  But it also doesn't hurt that I already loved the song.  

As a side note another aspect I really enjoy about the video is that it is very simple and in black and white.  So many music videos these days have all the bells and whistles and I appreciate something that goes the route of a little more subtler.

Illustrator Linzie Hunter

Lately I've been playing with creating my own lettering and fonts, but Linzie brings it to a whole new inspirational level. So many different beautiful letters all in one picture, all so very light and whimsical. Makes me want to keep practicing so someday I can make something remotely close to similar.

A Few Little Random Things

I like the idea of having a framed illustrated recipe in your kitchen.  Maybe a family recipe or a recipe you make often and are known for.

I've never really thought about wrapping gifts in fabric, but I really like the reusable green aspect of it.  They are printed on 100% organic fabrics with soy-based inks.  And its two gifts in one, which is a fun bonus!

These are great drawers, perfect for jewelry or little knick knacks.  And of course I'm drawn to the typography!

More amazing totes

So I know earlier this week I featured the tote "I Refuse to Participate In A Recession" from Alphabet bags.  In my perusing I guess I missed the other adorable totes they have to offer.  And I just couldn't resist sharing a few more!  Especially since I went to the beach last week and could not find the appropriate tote!  It needs to be a good size that it can hold a towel and beach supplies, but not too big you feel like you are dragging luggage.  And of course it is a fun way to make a cute statement that you can't make with the rest of your bags and purses.

I refuse to participate in a recession

This bag is rather timely, especially since layoffs seem to be rampant and close to home for everybody.  But with this bag you can "keep your chin up and tote this tongue-in-cheek bag with pride!"  They also have really fun alphabet letter bags if you don't want to be as bold.  All for a recession friendly price!

The perfect bag for typography nerds like myself

Am I a typography nerd for lusting after this bag?  Probably so.  But I also have a weakness for anything Cole Haan.  Which automatically means it is out of my budget.

Alberto Seveso

Being a graphic designer I always love seeing artists try new and unique treatments to type.  

Alberto Seveso's Destructive Vintage Type is so beautiful with the letters part of the art itself.  I really appreciate when artists can achieve this effect instead of the text being an afterthought. 

Yulia Brodskaya
