The Pleasure is All Mine: Selfish Food for Modern Life

I need this cookbook.

"With The Pleasure is All Mine, anyone can enjoy a Steak au Poivre with Frites, Three-Cheese Ravioli, Coconut Fish Curry with Homemade Naan Bread, or a Wild Blueberry Free-Form Tart without the expense and hassle of restaurants or fussy dinner guests. The 100 uncomplicated, exquisite recipes in this collection are simple to prepare and require no fancy equipment. With just a skillet, bowl, knife, and a few perfect ingredients, Pirret makes great solo dining effortless-and she offers inspired wine and cocktail pairings, too, to make dinner complete. Edgy and bursting with personality, The Pleasure is All Mine is also filled with a wealth of devilishly entertaining stories based on her experiences living in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and London."

I am always struggling with reducing recipes and usually the recipes that are made for one are pretty boring.  Amazing single recipes combined with stories of living around the world, this book is right up my alley!

J. Crew Knit Dresses

I am in love with all of J.Crew's new cotton knit dresses.  I love wearing knit dresses in the summer because they are easy, transition well from day to night, and are super light and airy for the humid DC summers.  So I definitely plan to order a few of the below.  My only dilemma is what colors?!

Dry your tears with the stock market

Stock Market got you down? Dry your tears with an embroidered Dow Jones Hankey, which shows the ups and downs (mainly downs) of the market from 2004-2009. For $95 you can even get your own personal portfolio embroidered.

Weekend in Pictures

So my weekend was off to a great start Friday night as I cooked homemade pizza (which I'll blog about later this week) and hung out with my good friend, Katie.  I was really looking forward to spending the rest of the weekend having fun with friends, resting, and getting a few things done.

Then Saturday morning the stomach flu hit me.  It was absolutely awful, I'm not even going to lie. No worries I won't show you anymore pictures from the rest of my weekend, because I really don't think you want a visual.  Instead I will just show the flowers my sweet boyfriend got me to help me feel better (and to celebrate the first day of spring).

I'm still trying to recover and regain my energy, so bear with me this week!  Hopefully by next weekend I'll be back to 100% and can make up for staying in bed and missing out on the nice weather!

Tiny Art Director

The Tiny Art Director's Fish

I am in love with this website Tiny Art Director, where an artist's 4 year old daughter dictates to her Dad what she wants drawn, then critiques it. It is extremely entertaining as she is very specific in how her artwork is drawn and is not afraid to express it.

It reminds me way too much of my own nephew, who has tons of art supplies but never draws anything for himself. He just tells everyone else what he wants drawn, which is usually Thomas the Train. I always joke with my sister that he is destined to be an Art Director as well some day.

I stand corrected, glass can be as beautiful as pottery

A few weeks ago when I was at the Baltimore Art and Craft Show, there were a ton of glass artists there.  None of their work really did much for me and I just assumed I was more of a pottery person than a glass person.  But I obviously didn't see anything like this.  This glass by Caleb Siemon is so beautiful and textured, I would love to have any one of these pieces in my home!  And lucky for me there are four galleries in DC that carry glass from his collections.  Too bad I'm almost certain it is out of my price range.  Oh well at least I can enjoy the pretty pictures.

Play with your food!

I love playing with my food and these fun items give me even more reason to!  Now if only I could figure out where to purchase them in the U.S.....or spoke french so I could understand the website better!
