Kite Festival

A few of my photographs from the annual Kite Festival down at the Washington Monument.

My kind of Math

Math was never really my subject in school, but I can definitely get behind Craig Damrauer's kind of Math.  Which isn't really math as much as it is amusing life equations.

My Life Long Dream

It is my life long dream to see tulip time in the Netherlands. My mom's family is from the Netherlands, so I always heard about it growing up.  And I came close to going when I was studying in Barcelona. I have huge regrets that I didn't make the trip. But someday I will.

The pictures below absolutely amaze me.  The thought that those colorful lines are rows and rows of bright tulips is just stunning.

My weekend in Pictures

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I was relieved to finally be healthy and active this weekend!  My weekend consisted of:

Eating dinner at my favorite Capitol Hill Mediterranean restaurant, Cafe 8.  While it is no Zaytinya (my favorite restaurant in DC), it is a great neighborhood spot when you want your fill of hummus and pide.

Checking out the Kite Festival down on the mall with my friend Katie.  Even though the weather was rainy and grey, it was great to see how many people showed up to fly their kites around the monument.

Having a wine and chocolate girls night where we went to ACKC for chocolate desserts,

and then on to a neighborhood Wine Bar, which shall not be mentioned.  They apparently wish to not be blogged about, which may be a good thing since the service was awful and it was anything but laid back and relaxing.  Still it is my goal to try out all the wine bars in DC, so now I've marked this one off my list.

I spent Sunday at Lincoln Park with Max where he ran around with other dogs and I read and caught up with a few friends.

We sat under this beautiful tree, which I wish I knew the type of flowers that were on it.

Max Wanger's Photographs are Amazing

I've already expressed my love for Max Wanger Photography once when blogging about Joanna and Alex's engagement pictures, but I just can't help but do it again. His photographs are so fresh and unique. Below is his newest set of engagement pictures of Grace and Dominic.

Letter Girl Stamps

I have always wanted really funky neat handwriting and it has been a goal I've never been able to achieve. I honestly practice and practice and sometimes I can get a few letters going, but inevitably my hand gets tired and I get sloppy. That is why I love these hand-lettered address stamps by Letter Girl. Besides wanting to use them on everything I mail, they would also make a great gift for a friend who has recently moved or gotten married.

Alphabet Ice

Melting words in Kotama Bouabane's portfolio makes me think of all the fun possibilities you could use lettered ice cubes for.  Which is great because Generate Design sells a similar ice cube tray!  All the amazing photographs or games you could create with them....the possibilities really are endless!

Grey is the new Black

This spring grey is the new black and it is everywhere from fashion to home decor.  I am seeing it used as a neutral wall color and love the possibilities it offers to add powerful splashes of accent colors.  Especially with a clean white or black wood trim.  My favorites are grey and yellow and grey and turquoise.  Below is a little bit of inspiration for you to consider grey as your next new color palate.

Sweet Jewelry

Lately I've been looking for more delicate pieces of jewelry that can go with anything.  I feel like I already have several statement pieces and want something a little more sweet.  I think the jewelry below fits the bill nicely and are the type of necklaces you can throw on with almost any outfit.
